The Client Sanity Zone - class notes from March 1, 2007

Last night's Biznik class went extremely well. I realized half way through that my Three Simple Rules for Sanity in Relationships were derived from my MA thesis a few years ago, and that I hadn't ever shared those publicly. It was really cool to share these insights to such a great group of people. Thank you to everyone who was there.

Here are the notes I shared at the end of class:

The Three Simple Rules of Sanity in Relationships

  1. Embrace inner diversity (in self and others).
  2. Assume positive motivation (in self and others).
  3. Honor the whole (in the boundary between self and others).

The Most Powerful Question in Relationships

"What else?"

...What else are you feeling?
...What else do you think?
...Is there something else you want?
...Is there anything else we should consider?
...Is that all?
...Tell me more...

Three Simple Steps for the Tangible Minds Inquiry Practice

  1. What am I feeling? (And what are the tangible qualities of that?)
  2. What does this part of me want to be feeling? (Optional: What does it want?/Repeat.)
  3. Allowing myself to experience that feeling now, how can things be different?
